I hope you’ve all been able to follow the Herstory blog series that has been featured on the WSR blog. This weekly series has shared the stories of incredible women from history.
There are so many lessons to be learned the lives of women who have gone before. One place we can find incredible women to be our heroes is from our own family histories. I would like you to meet an incredible woman from my family line, Regetta Marie Nielsen Thurston
Regetta Marie Nielsen Thurston

Regetta was born February 18, 1845 in Aalborg, Denmark and died on January 22, 1931 in Utah. Her life was exciting and full of faith, miracles, trials, forgiveness and love. She converted to the LDS church at thirteen, immigrated to Utah, was married at eighteen, widowed and remarried at nineteen. She had fifteen children and buried five of them. She supported her family while her husband, James, struggled with alcoholism and she forgave him when he recovered and made amends. She has always been a hero to me.

Here is an inspiring quote from the end of her story
“I have always tried to do my duty to my husband as a wife, and to my children as a mother and to my Father in Heaven as his humble daughter, and live near to him and not forget him in the hour of trials and after my trials, which have been many. The Lord has rewarded me abundantly. I have tried to do my duty as a member of the Church and my desires are to keep on, and to live upright before the Lord the remainder of my life and that my children will live upright, and honest, and in every way become men and women as the Lord would have them be so that they may gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and this great work in these the last days. So when we meet beyond the veil we may be together to enjoy the Glory of our Lord.”

Look in your own family line for women and learn their story. If you can't find the any recorded stories of your ancestors let that be your motivation to impact future generations and write your own "herstory". Keep a journal and live your life so you will be a hero for others.
