I read an article today about how a female sports blogger wrote a post about how an Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader was too "pudgy" around the waist to be an attractive cheerleader (see the article here). Just like the author of the article, I immediately thought, What an awful thing to say, but how much more awful it is coming from another woman who has probably experienced body/weight shaming as well and knows how painful it can be? That got me thinking, do most women experience body shaming or weight shaming comments more from men or women? Men get most of the blame for women feeling the pressure to look a certain way or be a specific weight, but are women just as culpable as men? So, do me a favor and help me conduct a little unscientific research by taking the poll below! Let's see what our results are and I'll post a blog later that are based on those results.
